The iconic Yoshino cherry trees at the Tidal Basin have officially reached Stage 5 (puffy white blossoms) on March 23, 2025, according to the National Park Service. This marks the final phase before peak bloom, promising an unforgettable explosion of color and beauty.
The blossoms’ journey began on March 11 with Stage 1 (green buds), followed by Stage 2 (florets visible) on March 16. Progress accelerated rapidly: they reached Stage 3 (floret extension) by March 19 and Stage 4 (peduncle elongation) just one day later on March 20. Now in Stage 5 , the blossoms are poised for their grand finale—peak bloom (Stage 6) , projected between March 28–31, 2025 .
