Former President Donald Trump stated that his administration is set to release documents related to the 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy without any censorship or redactions. In doing so, he fulfills a promise made during his election campaign.
Trump told reporters on Monday that his government will release around 80,000 files. However, it remains unclear how many of these records are already part of the millions of pages previously made public. He provided no further details about the contents of the files.
“There’s an enormous amount of paperwork. You’ll have plenty of material to review,” Trump said while visiting the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington.
He also emphasized that nothing would be withheld from the documents. “I said, ‘Don’t make any cuts. There can’t be any cuts,’” he remarked.
Many experts who have analyzed the records released so far say the public shouldn’t expect earth-shattering revelations in the new documents. Even so, there’s significant curiosity surrounding additional information about the assassination and the events surrounding it.
